About Elijah Darden
Elijah Darden is a current student at Washington University in St. Louis studying psychological brain sciences and music on the pre-medicine path. In 2019 and 2020, he was an Illinois All-State Orchestral Musician on Trombone as well as an Illinois All-State Composer in 2021. He currently performs in the Washington University Jazz Band. His compositional work has been performed by many groups within his community and beyond such as by Washington University Symphony Orchestra's premier of Ambition's Overture and the Washington University Jazz Band's premier of Grumble. He has been the recipient of multiple compositional accolades and was an honorable mention in the Diversity Initiative's International Call for Scores for his piece Mire: For Two Trombones and Tuba. He composes, arranges, and transcribes for a variety of different ensembles and uses the blending of his cultural backgrounds to drive the inspiration and soul of his musical voice.
